Preparations

Meet the Azerbai-car!

This is our Ford Granada Scorpio which we bought in March for the “Baku or Bust” trip. We hope it will carry us safely to Azerbaijan in time for kick off on Saturday 6th June, and raise some money for orphanages through the charity Gol along the way.
On that note, our fundraising page is taking donations; visit www.justgiving.com/mongoldragons and please be generous! If you would like any more information about the charity and where your money will go, please visit the Gol website www.golcymuru.org, or contact us.

The car is about to undergo a service and has some extra spare parts courtesy of Harbury Lane Breakers, Leamington Spa. We have also done a bit of route-planning:
We will start with a ferry from Dover to Dunkirk. Then we will drive through Central Europe, crossing Germany, Austria and Slovenia. We will press east through Croatia, Serbia and Bulgaria. We will follow the coast of the Black Sea through Turkey and into Georgia. We hope to be welcomed with a party in Kutaisi (twinned with Newport). We will then cross into Azerbaijan and make our way to Baku on the edge of the Caspian Sea. After the match we will fly home, leaving the car to be auctioned in aid of local good causes.

In the meantime, we have booked a ferry, sent our passports off for visas and are impatiently awaiting departure!
